The great continent of Africa contains an amazing assemblage of cichlid fishes known as haplochromines. It is a great tragedy that this trend will only continue. As man puts more and more pressure on wild habitats, we will continue to lose species at an alarming rate. Many species will be gone before we are even aware of their existence.

With that we present the second volume in the series while trying to find a comfortable medium of wild species not in or common to the aquarists and haplochromine cichlids in the hobby.

As time wears on, the aquarist will play an increasingly important role in species survival. It is a hard thought to fathom when you consider that this generation may be the last to see many of these beautiful fish alive.
